S355 and S355Jr Carbon Steel Coil Description
S355 and S355Jr are types of structural carbon - manganese steels. The carbon content in S355 is typically up to 0.24% and in S355Jr up to 0.22%. They have a significant manganese content, usually around 1.60% maximum. They also contain small amounts of silicon, phosphorus, and sulfur. The silicon content aids in the deoxidation process during steelmaking. The phosphorus and sulfur contents are controlled to ensure good weldability and mechanical properties. The difference between S355 and S355Jr lies mainly in the requirements for the impact energy; S355Jr has a slightly lower requirement for impact energy at a given temperature
